Last year I took a break from directing and jumped into the Cinematographers chair instead. I was the Director of Photography on a short film entitled "Whack to the Future". I was really happy with the look of the final film. I used a few techniques that normally weren't used in film school like using Pola filters in place of ND. I also used a raised single light technique for the bar scene trying to mimic a Godfather look. The point was to under light and make it subtle, so you didn't feel overwhelmed by the background yet you could still tell it was there. Check it out below it's pretty funny!

New Job, New Place, New Blogs
So I haven't been blogging as much as I like about my current films and what's going on with me in general. So let me first say that 247 is turning out better and better with each editing session. Currently the picture is "locked" meaning it's currently in its final cut, the one everyone will see. My composers and sound guys are starting work on all the complicated sound effects that accompany the film.
We had the first screening of it without proper sound mix to the crew and it was extremely well received. So well received in fact we were encouraged to enter it to the CSC. I'm not exactly sure what that entails but from what I've been told it's a very good thing. My producer will also be shopping it to as many film festivals as we can get.
Okay so now that that is out of the way on with life. I'm moving to Toronto tomorrow as I'm getting prepared to start my position at CTV in the Digital Media sector. What does that entail you ask? I'm not 100% sure myself but I'll be dealing it a lot of digital streaming, video on demand, and web based stuff for shows on CTV, TSN, MTV, Discovery and so forth. It's a cool job because I get to actually work with everyone at the complex, not just a specific area.
I think I'm going to start blogging more regularly as I think I'll have some more time. That's all for now though. I'll let you guys know as soon as the film is 100% finished and ready for festivals and your eyes!

As some of you know I own a graphic design firm. We were recently commissioned to designed the entire packaging for the Global TV series "Along for the Ride". It's now available for purchase here for anyone interested. There is also a nice high res version of the front cover.
